I recently returned for Botox and filler treatment with Dr Ajan, whom I had seen about a year ago with satisfactory results. At my consultation this time, I came in with specific concerns and a clear idea of what I wanted to address. While the doctor was confident and spoke at length about his extensive experience, I didn’t feel that my personal goals were truly listened to or prioritised. Although I initially outlined a conservative plan, I was advised to proceed with additional treatments in areas I hadn’t intended to treat, with the explanation that it would prevent issues later on. Trusting his expertise, I agreed. Six weeks on, I’m very disappointed with the outcome. I am $2,500 out of pocket and left with noticeable facial asymmetry — one side of my face is significantly more paralysed than the other, affecting my natural expressions. When I raised my concerns, I was told to do facial exercises in the shower to “wear out” the Botox, which did not feel like a reassuring or proactive response. I also have persistent lumps in my lips following filler treatment. Cosmetic procedures rely heavily on clear communication, collaboration, and genuinely listening to a patient’s concerns and desired outcome. In this case, I don’t feel my original brief was respected, and the result does not reflect what I had hoped to achieve. This has been a frustrating and upsetting experience.
