Dr Mark Cicchiello has changed my life, helping me treat multiple skin conditions. Lisa and the team of nurses are friendly, helpful and accommodating. It was definitely worth the wait to get in, I would highly recommend Baycity Dermatology.
I have been taking my teenage child to Mark for treatment and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Mark spoke directly with my child & made him feel comfortable each & every time we attended. Mark also got the results we wanted. Couldn’t be happier. Alison
Just recently I commenced going to the Baycity Dermatology My experience is 10/10 Kylie and Sophie on the front desk are so friendly, and kind, and cant do enough working with you to make compatible appointment times etc I have extreme skin issues and recently after detailing my extreme advanced condition, and stress,Kylie thankfully bought my appointment forward. If she hadn’t, I would’ve had to go to emergency at SJOG triage. Joshua Elakis is my dermatologist at the clinic and I can’t speak highly enough of him. I count myself lucky that I fluked upon him. He has helped me enormously with medications and advise Its a very busy practice, but Joshua saw fit to fit me in with another follow up appoint within a week.
My daughter and I attended an appointment to see Dr Joshua Elakis for a skin condition, a doctor who we had never met before this appointment. Dr Joshua Elakis asked my shy 7 year old daughter to lift her top to show her stomach and when she hesitated (because she was nervous), he asked me “is she always this defiant?” and then more shockingly, “has she been abused before?” I was absolutely stunned by this question which left me angry and in tears. We had been in this doctors presence about 2 minutes, he had taken no time to build any rapport with my daughter to make her feel comfortable and instead of re-assuring her he called her defiant and asked about child abuse! Dr Elakis then tells me that clearly no examination was happening and to come back in a few months. This doctor has zero bedside manner and I find it hard to believe he has any experience treating children or dealing with any patients at all considering this type of reprehensible behaviour. How arrogant and rude can a health professional be to make such unfounded, groundless and offensive comments just because he is too lazy to make a child feel at ease? I have never ever experienced anything like this before; my family and I have seen the best allied health specialists in their field (in Melbourne, before our move to Greater Geelong) when required and never once have I experienced such unprofessional and offensive behaviour. I made a complaint to the clinic following this awful experience which resulted in a phone call apology from this rude man so that, presumably, I didn’t take it any further. I certainly hope that this joke of a practitioner was disciplined or at least educated on how not to interact with patients as a result. I have never made a complaint before nor been so inclined to leave negative (or any) feedback. I most definitely do not recommend taking your child to see this man. Whilst this happened some time ago now, this experience has instilled in my daughter a fear of seeing any doctor and it makes me feel so angry as their are so many caring, friendly practitioners out there that are fabulous with children. Dr Elakis is not one of them.
I have dealt with many healthcare professionals over the years with the majority of interactions being positive and professional, however I cannot say that about my appointment with Dr Joshua Elakis. After getting a referral from my GP I came in to see Dr Elakis about the sebaceous hyperplasia skin condition I was experiencing. This happened to be on my face so it was something I was already quite self-conscious about. As we were discussing, I asked if there was a mirror that I could use to point out which spots were of most concern, he said no and proceeded to come around to my side of the desk and then (with no prior warning) started, for lack of a better word, "prodding" my face, saying there's one spot, there's another one, oh there's one too etc continuing to prod all over my face which was extremely unsettling and felt totally unnecessary / disrespectful. I should have just stood up and walked out at that point. This is one of the worst examples of bedside manner I have ever experienced. I didn't initially submit this review, in fact it has been some time since this appointment occurred, but after reading another review of an interaction which occurred at this practice in a similar vein with this same doctor (but this time involving a child), I honestly felt compelled. It is safe to say I will never set foot in this practice again.
