I've been seeing Dr Ong for a couple of years now. The initial skin checks are very similar to where I went previous, however, Dr Ong seems quite obsessive with finding melanomas and likes to take samples of suspicious sites. I am happy with this as an extra precaution, but I can see how some people wouldn't like having samples taken so this may put them off. My most recent sample from my back came back positive for a very early in situ melanoma, which meant a full excision. The procedure was done quick and painlessly in the clinic and healed up well. The stitches were removed painlessly two weeks later with the good news of clear margins. All now healing up with a tidy little line so far. I hate to think what could have been if this wasn't found, but don't have that to worry about thanks to the sample taken on a routine check.
NOTE: I will NOT accept the response from management of this clinic, I also note that very likely fake positive reviews have now been posted regarding this doctor, likely because he is receiving many 1-star reviews. My finger injury has grossly impacted on my life for the past 6 months; I will not accept your generic apology. I have come back to write an updated review. I reported Dr Eric Ong to the Ombudsman who passed it on to AHPRA. I'm guessing nothing will come of that, so I wanted to warn other patients. I had a TINY biopsy taken of my finger 4 months ago, I then developed ongoing swelling, which turned out to be an infection, the clinic kept telling me it wasn't infected and it would get better. My GP followed up as he said ongoing swelling was not normal for such a tiny biopsy. He ordered several scans and then antibiotics for infection, but due to the delay in diagnosis it affected the tendons in my finger and I have now developed tendon issues and have been unable to move my finger since the biopsy. Ive had to wear splints and now likely going to have to endure painful steroid injections and potentially may never regain full range of motion. This has GREATLY affected my quality of life !! Dr Ong was entirely inappropriate in the consultation, telling me how easy it was to miss skin cancers when doing checks and showing me images on his computer asking me to 'spot the difference!?' The skin check was then done far too quickly. He injected too much anaesthetic into my finger, and to be honest the biopsy was very likely unnecessary to start with, he didn't even examine the tiny spot Id pointed out before deciding to take the biopsy. Im guessing they get extra Medicare money for taking biopsies. I would avoid this practitioner. I can only recommend Dr Mike at this clinic, he is professional.
I went in to Q Skin today for the first time for a skin cancer check. I had a biopsy taken from a growth on one ear that I was concerned about. Dr Sam Elnasry did the check up and biopsy with absolute professionalism and a friendly manner. A bonus was that the anaesthetic and biopsy was almost completely painless! High regard for the friendly, professional admin staff too. Recommended!
I have been going to Q Skin for about 15 years. Every doctor there has been extremely professional. Eric Ong has been my main doctor ( I have also been to Mike and Ronnie) and I highly recommend them all . Eric is always very thorough in examining my skin. He has even spotted skin cancers as small spots that I would never have noticed. Eric has removed some potentially dangerous SCC's from me. At all times his professionalism has been very admirable. I could not recommend this surgery enough to any potential client.
I've been going to Q Skin Clinic for my skin checks for the past five years, and I couldn't be happier with the care. They are extremely professional and have performed several minor procedures on me, all without any complications. Dr Mike Pei is incredibly thorough and always makes me feel well looked after. Booking is easy, the staff are lovely, and the advice is expert. It's given me real peace of mind about my skin. I highly recommend them to my friends and family!
