About the Provider
Smooth Skin Dermatology is a specialist dermatologist-led practice on Porter Street in Templestowe, in Melbourne's north-eastern suburbs, founded and run by Dr Sara Sabourirad, MD, FACD. She qualified in 2007, became a board-certified dermatologist in 2011, served as an assistant professor of dermatology with more than 25 scientific publications, and completed her Australian specialist training at The Alfred and the Skin Health Institute before opening the clinic. Consultations are unhurried, evidence-based and offered in English and Farsi.
The practice covers medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology in one place. Medical care includes acne and rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, hair and nail disorders, vitiligo, hyperpigmentation and melasma, excessive sweating, keloid scars, paediatric and vulval dermatology, warts and molluscum, and patch testing for contact allergy. Procedural work includes full-body skin cancer checks and skin cancer removal, cryotherapy, curettage and cautery, fine-wire diathermy, intralesional steroid injections and narrowband UVB phototherapy for psoriasis, vitiligo and eczema.
The Cosmetic & Laser arm runs on the Cutera Excel V+, a dual-wavelength 532 nm and 1064 nm laser used for facial redness and rosacea, broken capillaries, leg veins, cherry angiomas, port wine stains, sun damage and age spots, with the Laser Genesis mode for collagen and texture. Cosmetic consultations also cover pigmentation and melasma plans, acne and surgical scar revision, injectable treatment for underarm sweating and prescription-only cosmetic injectables, all assessed by the dermatologist first and priced after the consultation. No GP referral is needed for cosmetic or laser appointments; a referral is recommended for medical consultations so the Medicare rebate applies. Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with online booking.

Injectables & Fillers

Vein treatment addresses visible spider veins and varicose veins using lasers or injections. Most sessions are quick, and results improve over several weeks.
Photofacial treatments use light-based technology to reduce sun damage, redness, and age spots. Multiple sessions are usually recommended for the best results.
Laser resurfacing removes damaged skin layer by layer to reduce wrinkles, scars, and uneven pigmentation. Recovery time depends on the type of laser used.
