My experience at Unwind Wellness has been absolutely lovely. It truly is the best place to unwind and take care of yourself. Every time I walk in, I immediately feel relaxed and welcomed. The staff are so friendly and kind. Evelli, the young lady at the front desk, always makes me feel so welcome and appreciated. She brings such a warm energy to the place. Carol, the esthetician, has been incredibly dedicated and patient during my sessions. She takes her time, explains everything, and makes sure I feel comfortable throughout the entire process. It’s always such a treat to be there, and I genuinely look forward to every visit. I’m so grateful for the wonderful experience every time. 💙✨ Happy Valentine’s 🌈🥰✨

Unwind has been my massage go-to for a few years now. They have fairly standard, reasonable rates for the area, and I have yet to run into a bad or unskilled massage therapist here. They’re open evenings throughout the week (which I love as a night owl) and they often have same-day appointments available until mid-afternoon (which I love as a person with chronic migraine). I have had exactly one less-than-great experience here, and after mentioning it in an internal feedback mechanism, Unwind addressed it pretty thoroughly (like I was a lil embarrassed by the attention lol) and went above and beyond to rectify things. I get signature messages and like medium pressure. I’ve probably seen a third of the massage therapists at some point, but my faves are Armando (great all around, no notes) and Yalem (mom live far away and you’re having a bad day? She’s got great comforting mom energy. Also excellent for migraine). Heajin is also pretty great but a little vigorous for me given the migraine thing— I bet she’d be excellent at deep tissue!

I’ve been to Unwind Wellness several times now, and it has quickly become one of my favorite places for bodywork in DC. If you’re looking for massage therapists who actually do real work, this is the place. I’ve seen both Helen and Heajin, and they are exceptional in different but complementary ways. Helen is incredible for deep tissue, especially hip work. She goes deep, she’s effective, and she is not afraid to work through tension. This is not a light, spa-style massage. It’s therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That’s part of the technique and something to be aware of if you’re new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. If you want thoughtful, strong, therapeutic massage from practitioners who really know the body, I highly recommend Unwind.

OK, REWIND! Unwind Wellness has won me and my partner over. We really haven't stopped daydreaming about our experience ever since and are looking forward to our next spa date. We had such a pleasant encounter with the receptionist, Nicole, from the moment we walked in and were placed with 2 masseuses who were top-tier and gifted with the art of touch. Our couples massage was beyond rejuvenating and serene for each of us and we were truly able to decompress (and leave a lot of muscle knots behind on the table)! We both left feeling SO much lighter, connected within our bodies and to each other, and grateful we accepted the offer to give Unwind another chance. I am so impressed with the level of intention and care that the owner, Antonio, has displayed in making sure that we were in the absolute best hands the second time around. He was very apologetic that we had an off day on our first visit and really turned things a total 180. It's evident that he is passionate about his business, is extremely detail-oriented (the decor is GORGEOUS!), and has strived to exceed the 5-star reputation his establishment deserves. In a world where self-care tends to be an afterthought or a treat, I'm feeling inspired to carve out time to visit Unwind Wellness on a regular basis. I'm so glad I found the right match (and might have to gatekeep my masseuse's name because she is THAT good)! ORIGINAL REVIEW - Leaving extremely disappointed and saddened by my experience after looking forward to coming here for so long and needing a massage more than ever. I don’t feel like any particular areas were actually addressed when I mentioned how tight my body felt. My masseuse lacked a good sense of touch in my opinion and I left hurt at the end by the closing move — she used a small sheet to attempt to tug on my neck but tugged on my stud earrings 2x instead. I expected WAY more for the amount paid and regret not going elsewhere. It was also very difficult to book online and after getting in contact with the receptionist on the phone, her phone line kept hanging up on me resulting in 6 calls back and forth before officially being booked. What was planned to be a romantic pre-Valentine’s date had us both commenting on how the massage didn’t hit the spot while we were still in the room. The best thing Unwind has going for them is their atmosphere. Don’t be fooled. Sincerely, hurt and confused.

Heajin was AMAZING!!! so incredibly talented, kind, respectful, and overall made the experience one of the best massages I’ve ever had! I cannot wait to come back! Thank you Heajin - cannot recommend the combo lymphatic massage with her enough! Worth every penny.
