BASE Dermatology & Mohs Surgery - Dr. Bryan Sofen

Dr. Sofen is a skilled and personable dermatologist. My dermatologist referred me to Dr. Sofen for Mohs surgery, a skin cancer specialization. I was somewhat apprehensive, and the BASE office staff was considerate and cordial. Ryan, one of the Dr.’s staff, gave me a general overview. He was so upbeat, and gave me opportunity to ask questions. Then Dr. Sofen gave me a detailed explanation of the Mohs surgery. I highly recommend the BASE practice.

First time visiting Base Dermatology /28/26. Was seen by Dr. Sophen and crew, absolutely loved this place and the people. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well as knowledgeable, Dr. Sophen is definitely a class act. Very laid back but professional vibe going on there. They definitely go out of their way to make you comfortable. If you’re in need of a dermatologist, I very highly recommend this place and Dr. Sophen.

Really horrible practice. I went 3 times. First time someone yelled about the wait and stormed out, then I had to wait 40 minutes in a gown before they misdiagnosised me and rushed me out without even doing what I'd come there for. Lots of attitude from the assistant. The second time was great. The third time I waited over 30 minutes in the lobby and left. I will not be back and neither should you. Just ridiculous!

Only 2 stars because I've had better experiences with with Brian Sofen. As a dermatology doctor he's great, been with him for years and three different locations. Unfortunately now that he has his own office on Woodward Ave. He and his staff all were echoing the same words, "it's covered by insurance" no you won't be billed.. after my bi annual skin cancer checkup, the bill came in at $484. I've never paid more than my copay, approx $40. Never recieved a call regarding the biopsy results, this was Nov.'25. Still no results, even after calling and asking for such. Paid the lab bill, Since it was sent to me directly from an independent lab and only 20 dollars. His office has since sent me two letters, both with a dollar amount due, $400+, with a billing address for mailing and an online billing method. Unfortunately no account number on these letters.. I've been warned about this practice of "your insurance will cover it " unfortunately they verify if you have coverage, not what or how much is covered.. my dentist partakes in this deceptive practice, so be warned, don't trust your providers.
