About the Provider
Gwen Aesthetics is a nurse-led med spa in Suite 70 at 5152 Moorpark Avenue in San Jose, serving clients from across Silicon Valley and the greater Bay Area, with a second location planned for Manteca. It is run by Janet Zarate, a Registered Nurse and clinical educator with more than 17 years of high-acuity hospital experience. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University in 2008 she worked in adult critical care and then emergency medicine at a Level II trauma center, and since 2020 she has served as a Clinical Nurse Educator for an emergency department in San Jose. She trained in aesthetics under medical professionals in Arizona and began treating clients in 2020. The practice is overseen by medical director Dr. Jamie Chang, an emergency medicine physician who supervises aesthetics, weight loss and wellness practices. It is named for Janet's daughter Gwen, whose memory the team honors in its work.
Injectables are the core of the menu: neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau) for expression lines, dermal fillers for lips, cheeks and jawline, biostimulators, and PRP, PRF and EZ-Gel for longer-term skin quality and collagen. Every medical aesthetic procedure begins with a good faith exam, as required by the California Medical Board and Board of Registered Nursing, and a free consultation includes an Aura 3D skin analysis that maps texture, tone, pores and aging patterns.
The facial and skin menu covers microneedling and microchanneling, chemical peels, dermaplaning, plasma fiber blasting and red light therapy, plus licensed esthetician facials, waxing and brow shaping. Wellness services include custom IV hydration drips, vitamin injections and peptide therapy, and a medically supervised weight loss program built around semaglutide and tirzepatide with Lipo-MIC injections, dosing guidance and regular check-ins.
Appointments are by booking only, with weekday evening and weekend availability. Memberships bank injectable and facial treatments at member pricing, financing is available through Cherry and Affirm, and the retail skincare line is Epicutis. Clients can book, manage appointments and follow aftercare through the practice's app.

I recently had some facial rejuvenation services and a peel done with Janet at Gwen Aesthetics. I’m nearly two weeks post service and I’m thrilled with the outcome so far. My skin is glowing. Janet was very precise, professional, and gentle. She talked me through the entire process and reassured me that it would look amazing. I’m a newbie to dermal fillers so I was nervous but I’m very happy with the results and I look refreshed just as I had hoped! She came up with a treatment plan for me so she can do a few little pick me ups to make me feel pretty and look as natural as possible, but with that little something that no one would even guess has been done.
