Not good! My appointment was with Dr. Scheuer. I was there for an annual skin check. The assistant who brought me back to the office from the waiting room was cold and curt. She confirmed that I was there for a full body skin check and asked if there was anything else that I wanted to speak with the doctor about. I said yes: I wanted to talk about some cosmetic issues and I wanted to ask her about thinning hair. The assistant told me that I would not be able to speak to the doctor about any hair concerns-that I would need to schedule a separate “hair consultation” appointment. I was surprised that an annual full-body skin check could not include a simple question about hair. I asked if there was any flexibility around that policy and was told no. When Dr. Scheuer came in, I let her know upfront that I was kind of taken aback by being told by her assistant that I couldn’t ask her a question about my scalp during a full-body skin check. Dr. Scheuer reaffirmed her policy that that appointment would need to be separate so that they could “provide me with the best possible care”. That was honestly the thinnest veiled attempt at up-selling that I think I have ever heard. The doctor did say she would be happy to discuss my cosmetic concerns in this appointment. (WOW!). I was sure at that point that I would not be back to this practice, but the doctor still had not examined me so I very uncomfortably endured a skin check in front and of the assistant. I would not recommend starting with this practice if you want transparency and ethical care to take priority over profit.

I can’t say enough good things about Market Street Dermatology! I’ve seen Dr. Scheuer for nearly 10 years & counting, and recommend her and the practice to everyone I know. The professionalism, most friendly staff from front desk to nurses to docs, and dedication to highest quality of care is second to none. Their team is always honest about what is needed and not needed, always makes me feel safe with zero judgement, and has never once made me feel like they’re pushing a service or product on me. Their team is clearly trained to lead with utmost care. They ask all the right questions to ensure the best course of treatment. I’ve had skin checks, my melasma cured, cystic acne treated, micro needling, laser treatments, as well as chemical peels. It truly is a high end medical practice and I can’t say enough good things about it. So grateful I found this place early on!

My experience at Market Street Dermatology was upsetting enough that I feel compelled to warn others. The issue was not the medical care itself, but the behavior of the front desk staff, which I found to be consistently rude, dismissive, and emotionally distressing. From the moment I arrived, I was spoken to in a condescending and hostile tone. When I tried to ask basic questions about my appointment and paperwork, I was interrupted, talked over, and made to feel like I was a burden simply for being there. Instead of offering help or clarification, the front desk staff responded with eye-rolling, sharp remarks, and an overall attitude that felt intentionally demeaning. What made this experience feel abusive rather than just “bad customer service” was the repeated pattern of disrespect. I was not given the chance to explain myself, my concerns were brushed off, and I was treated as if I didn’t deserve patience or basic courtesy. At one point, the tone and body language used toward me felt intimidating and shaming, especially in a setting where patients are already vulnerable. No one should feel belittled or humiliated when seeking medical care. The lack of professionalism and empathy at the front desk created an environment that felt unwelcoming and unsafe. I left feeling upset, embarrassed, and completely unheard. Because of how I was treated, I will never return to Market Street Dermatology. I believe a medical office should prioritize respect, compassion, and clear communication, and unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I would strongly encourage management to address how patients are treated at the front desk, as this experience alone was enough to ensure I will not be back.

My family and I are all parents of Market Street Dermatology. We see Dr. Scheuer, Dr. Kauls and Dr. Galligan. We’ve been patients for 10+ years for medical, cosmetic and now acne issues. We have all been very satisfied with the level of knowledge and care that we have received from all of the providers at the clinic. The entire staff, including the front desk, assistants, etc. are all wonderful! Thank you for providing amazing care for our entire family!
