I took my 88-year-old mom to the Springfield office, and they took terrific care of her. Dr. Huffman went above and beyond the call of duty, showing incredible patience with my mom, who isn’t the easiest person to deal with, and absorbing my mom’s records in real time (they arrived electronically literally while we were in the examination room). I will be using Renewal for my mom from now on and Dr. Huffman whenever possible. They provide top notch care - both medically and when it comes to bedside manner.
The service is ok but I'm upset with the communication. I asked the front desk, doctor and nursing assistant if my skin cancer screening would be billed as a preventative service and all of them seemed to think that wouldn't be an issue. However, after receiving my notice from insurance and seeing it was not preventative (which is covered) the billing department flatly stated they "do not bill preventative services". Wow, really wish any of the people I had asked about this would have mentioned that!!! On top of that, I had to schedule this skin cancer screening 6 months in advance. It was a 20 minute appointment but makes no sense because they happily fit me in within 2 weeks for my acne treatment (same doctor). So is it just a racket so they can charge me twice? I'm so confused by this. I asked the front desk, doctor and nurse about this as well and no one had a clear answer as to why they can see me for a treatment but not for a skin cancer review. How does this make any sense??
I have been going to this practice and happy for years- when Renewal dermatology took it over I continued going and saw Nicole, the PHA. I like her and trust her. Yesterday I saw A doctor. I felt belittled and dismissed. She treated my melanoma as a distant past event and I had to explain my more recent history with less invasive skin cancer issues- it was clear she didn’t read more current pathology in my chart. She put words in my mouth and also repeated herself with answers that didn’t directly match concerns. I left with the same concerns if not more.
I’ve been here a few times over the last several years. Recently came for a screening and to have a weird little bump checked out. They took me seriously and the skin cancer was caught early. Just had it removed at the Gainesville office. I don’t understand the negative reviews on here, so I’m taking the time to leave a positive one. Highly recommend this office.
